I feel like trust is when you give someone your heart and trusting them not to hurt it and for them to keep it. When you trust a person, you believe that they have your best interest at heart. You rely on them.
I have been having trust issues ever since because of my past relationships. Yes, I have my bad past and I have also been cheated on before. So I guess I know the feeling of cheating and being cheated on before.
You earn a person’s trust by consistently proving yourself to them. You show them that you will not use them or take advantage of them.
What I feel about cheating is that, if you really did love your partner… You wouldnt even have the thought to cheat on him/her. & I would NEVER EVER forgive someone who has cheated on me. Because once a cheater, always a cheater.
But what I am always afraid about getting into a relationship is when the trust is broken. Because from what I feel is that, trust can never be gained back. NEVER. For me lar…. but to some… trust can be earn back except it take a much longer period of time. Broken trust can take years, even decades to repair. It’s a very sensitive, and even awkward, time for the two people involved.
But for me… why forgive? If they really did thought of you and love you, they wouldn’t even hurt you in the first place right?
So I received some emails after my video on how to be a good girlfriend. Some of you guys asked me to blog about how to build a trust in a relationship? Here goes!
“Trust goes both ways,” Your partner can read your face better than anyone else. Always be truthful, never lie even if the truth hurts.
2. Take his side .. Stand by him ..
Always support your boyfriend. When your boyfriend and his friend gets into an argument stand up for your guy & If hes in the wrong, try to cool both parties down and tell him you understand where he is coming from in front of his friend. Then, discuss it later in private. Do not embarrassed your boyfriend in front of his friends.
3. Be up front with each other
Don’t keep anything hidden, nothing should be kept from one another. Be honest & trustworthy yourself, before asking someone to do the same. Don’t gossip about him to other people; it will get back to him and will only make things worst, be up front and tell him what you’re uncomfortable with because the consequences of not being completely truthful will kill the trust.
4. Show him your flaws
Yes! Don’t be afraid and show him your flaws ^^ Cause when you let him see your true colors, you give him the opportunity to accept the real you, even it reflects your insecurities. Once you realised he’s ok with your flaws, you’ll feel more comfortable revealing bigger things. :)
5. Maintain boundaries
If you already have a girlfriend/boyfriend. You should try to distance yourself from the opposite sex. Show your partner that you know what you are doing and that you care about his/her feelings.
Best not to contact any of your ex-es. Yes many of you must be thinking …. “This person was really important in my life, why wouldn’t we stay friends? We mean a lot to each other. ” -.-
If your ex is the one trying to be friends, it’s not that they actually want you back, its that they are having a hard time getting over the relationship. The same for vise versa. And don’t kid yourself, if you stayed friends you wouldn’t have the same standards you keep as with any other friend. You are subconsciously seeing yourself as with this person still and it will only disappoint your other half.
6. Don’t judge
Whenever your partner goes to you and opening up to you telling him about his mistakes. Do not criticize his behavior or dismiss his feelings. For him to approach you when he’s down means he needs some loving. Support him, tell him everything is gonna be alright. Think of ways to help him. Because if you criticize his behavior or dismiss his feelings, he’ll think twice about confiding in you next time.
7. Take the time to create a lasting bond with your partner
Go on fun and romantic dates! Embrace your inner child, appreciate the little things in life together! Happy relationships are ones with a great trust. The more trust, the tighter the bond you’ll create. The less trust, there will be lots of suspicions and both parties wouldnt be happy! :(
LAST BUT NOT LEAST …
8. Trust your partner
How can your partner trust you when you don’t trust them? It takes two hands to clap. While trust gives you the permission of the person’s betrayal, imagine not able to trust a person and never to feel trusted back… think about it.
